An original four-episode Pokémon Scarlet and Violet web anime titled Pokémon: Paldean Winds (Houkago no Breath) is set to premiere on the official Pokémon YouTube channel on September 6. A teaser trailer has been released.
Set in the Paldea region, Pokémon: Paldean Winds will follow three students who are asked by the school principal to create a video that will express the school’s qualities to transfer students and newcomers. The main characters are Ohara (Shion Wakayama), a skilled flutist who wants to escape the pressure of performing in a concert; Arikis (Minako Kotobuki), a stubborn Pokémon battle enthusiast; and Homa (Marin), an exclusive scoop-obsessive who causes trouble for others.
Ryouhei Takeshita (Eromanga Sensei director, director and storyboard artist for The Heike Story Episode 9 and A Couple of Cuckoos‘ OP and ED) is directing the anime at WIT STUDIO and co-writing with Lapin Track’s Teruko Utusmi (Ryman’s Club co-series composer) and WIT STUDIO’s Keisuke Satou. Takashi Kojima (The Heike Story, Ride Your Wave) is the character designer.
Other staff include:
• Music composer: Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss)
• Color designer: WIT STUDIO’s Ayaka Nakamura (Pokémon: Hisuian Snow)
• Art director: Yuki Funagakure (Fireworks co-art director)
• Photography director: Yuuki Kawashita (Overlord Season 1)
Update: Added the anime’s English title and trailer and corrected its Japanese title (which was originally written as Houkago no Bless).
