The Quintessential Quintuplets anime is set to return with a new production titled The Quintessential Quintuplets~. A teaser visual and trailer were released with the announcement.

The announcement says that the new show will depict vignettes that weren’t shown in the existing series, mirroring the functions of the upcoming Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage and Horimiya -piece- anime.

The Quintessential Quintuplets is based on the manga by Negi Haruba, which began in 2017 and ended in 2020 with 14 tankoubon volumes. The manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine and is published under the Kodansha Comics label.

Kodansha USA describes the plot as:

Five girls who want to do anything but study, and their tutor: a high school boy who’s got book smarts and not much else. Futaro Uesugi took the tutoring gig because he was desperate for cash, but when his students—the five beautiful daughters of a wealthy businessman—find five times the excuses to slack off, what can he do?! At this rate, the sisters won’t graduate, so if he wants to get paid, Futaro must think of a plan to suit each of them … Which feels hopeless when five out of five of them think he’s a loser!

The first season of The Quintessential Quintuplets aired in 2019 with Satoshi Kuwabara as director and Tezuka Productions as the animation production company. The second season aired in 2021 with Kaori as director and Bibury Animation Studios producing.

The two seasons were followed up by a movie (also produced by Bibury) that premiered in Japan last May. Masato Jinbo (Restaurant to Another World 2) directed the movie with Keiichirou Oochi (The Quintessential Quintuplets 2 series composer) as scriptwriter and Masato Katsumata (The Quintessential Quintuplets 2) as character designer.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka plays protagonist Uesugi Futaro in the anime. Voicing the titular quintuplets are Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano, Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano, Miku Itou as Miku Nakano, Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano, and Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano.
