A new original anime titled Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night has been announced with Ryouhei Takeshita (Eromanga Sensei, The Heike Story Episode 9 director and storyboard artist) as the director and Doga Kobo as the animation production company. The anime will premiere next year.

A teaser trailer and visual were released with the announcement.

Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night will follow a girl who spends her nights wandering Shibuya, a place “overflowing with identity.” Unable to become anyone, the girl’s life begins to change following a special encounter. Bottom-Tier Tomozaki author Yuuki Yaku is the series composer and scriptwriter.

For the character designs, the anime features designs from Junichirou Taniguchi (Sing Yesterday for Me) and original designs from illustrator popman3580.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, and he did so for a few years, starting from his college days. He still writes about video games sometimes, but now focuses on anime-related news content and the occasional review. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive. Every anime season, Melvyn looks forward to discovering new standout episodes and OP/ED animation sequences, as well as learning about the storyboard artists and directors behind them.
