The Hell’s Paradise anime adaptation has received three new character visuals which preview the criminal Nurugai, who is the last of the Sanka people, and the executioners Shion and Tenza.
Hell’s Paradise is set to premiere on April 1 and will have a March 19 advance screening for its first two episodes. Crunchyroll and Netflix will stream the anime overseas.
The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Yuuji Kaku that ran from 2018 to 2021 with 13 tankoubon volumes. The series, which was serialized on Shonen Jump+, has inspired a spin-off manga and a novel. Viz Media describes the manga, which it publishes as Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, as:
Gabimaru the Hollow is one of the most vicious assassins ever to come out of the ninja village of Iwagakure. He’s ruthlessly efficient, but a betrayal results in him being handed a death sentence. He has only one hope—in order to earn his freedom, he must travel to a long-hidden island and recover an elixir that will make the shogun immortal. Failure is not an option. On this island, heaven and hell are just a hair’s breadth away.
Kaori Makita (Saezuru Tori Wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather) is the director of the adaptation with Akira Kindaichi (I’m Quitting Heroing scriptwriter) as series composer, Kouji Hisaki (Saezuru Tori Wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather co-main animator) as character designer, and Yoshiaki Dewa (Call of the Night) as music composer. MAPPA is the animation production company.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Gabimaru, Yumiri Hanamori as Sagiri, Ryouhei Kimura as Aza Chobe, Kensho Ono as Toma, Rie Takahashi as Yuzuriha, Daiki Yamashita as Senta, Chikahiro Kobayashi as Shion, Yuusuke Kobayashi as Tenza, Tetsu Inada as Tamiya Gantetsusai, and Aoi Ichikawa as Fuchi.
