Two new character visuals of Gabimaru and Yamada Asaemon Sagiri have been released for the upcoming Hell’s Paradise anime series. The anime will premiere on April 1, 2023 and stream on Crunchyroll in English-speaking territories and on Netflix in Asia Pacific regions.
An advance screening of the anime’s first two episodes will take place on March 19, 2023.


Kaori Makita (Saezuru Tori Wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather) is directing the series with Akira Kindaichi (I’m Quitting Heroing scriptwriter) as series screenwriter, Kouji Hisaki (Saezuru Tori Wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather co-main animator) as character designer, and Yoshiaki Dewa (Call of the Night) as music composer. MAPPA is in charge of the animation production.
Meanwhile, the voice cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Gabimaru, Yumiri Hanamori as Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, Ryouhei Kimura as Aza Choubei, Kenshou Ono as Yamada Asaemon Touma, Rie Takahashi as Yuzuriha, Tetsu Inada as Tamiya Gantetsusai, and Aoi Ichikawa as Yamada Asaemon Fuchi.
The anime series is based on the manga by Yuuji Kaku that ran in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ online magazine from January 18, 2018 to January 25, 2021. A total of 13 tankoubon volumes were released. The manga has also inspired a comedic spin-off manga and a novel.

Crunchyroll describes the synopsis of Hell’s Paradise as:
Gabimaru, a shinobi formerly known as the strongest in Iwagakure who is now a death row convict, is told that he will be acquitted and set free if he can bring back the Elixir of Life from an island that is rumored to be the Buddhist pure land Sukhavati. In hopes of reuniting with his beloved wife, Gabimaru heads to the island along with the executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri.
Upon arriving there, they encounter other death row convicts in search of the Elixir of Life… as well as a host of unknown creatures, eerie man-made statues, and the hermits who rule the island.Can Gabimaru find the Elixir of Life on this mysterious island and make it back home alive?
