Second Half of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 Airs Fall 2023

The second half of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 is scheduled to air sometime this coming Fall 2023. The anime’s first part will premiere as an hour-long special on March 4, 2023 and will stream on Crunchyroll worldwide, except in Japan. 

A 30-second teaser trailer, featuring the voices of the series’ main characters, has also been released by the production team. 

Meanwhile, reggae punk band SiM is performing the first part’s main theme song “UNDER THE TREE,” which is highlighted in a special anime music video. The theme song will also be available for streaming and downloading on various music platforms on March 4, 2023. The band previously performed “The Rumbling” as the opening theme for Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2

The returning Attack on Titan: Final Season staff includes Yuuichirou Hayashi as director, Hiroshi Seko as series screenwriter, Tomohiro Kishi as character designer, Jun Shishido as chief episode director, Daisuke Niinuma as chief animation director, Kazuo Ogura as art director, Shigeki Asakawa as photography director, and Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto as music composers. Returning from Part 2 are Itsuku Oonishi as color designer, Manabu Akita as another chief animation director, and Motoi Okunou and Subaru Ikeda as 3DCG directors.

The anime adaptation of Attack on Titan first aired in 2013 and was originally produced by WIT STUDIO. After three seasons, MAPPA took over as animation production studio for Attack on Titan Final Season. The manga has also inspired a franchise consisting of many spinoff manga, novels, games, and a two-part live-action Japanese film series. 

The original manga series by Hajime Isayama was serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shounen Magazine from September 9, 2009 to April 9, 2021. A total of 34 tankoubon volumes have been released.

Kodansha USA releases the Attack on Titan manga in English and describes the story as:

A century ago, the grotesque giants known as Titans appeared and consumed all but a few thousand humans. The survivors took refuge behind giant walls. Today, the threat of the Titans is a distant memory, and a boy named Eren yearns to explore the world beyond Wall Maria. But what began as a childish dream will become an all-too-real nightmare when the Titans return and humanity is once again on the brink of extinction…
