The NAKED PEAK -climb the Mountains of Madness- pilot anime film is scheduled to premiere on YouTube on February 28, 2023. A premiere link has been posted on the original creator’s YouTube channel, and an updated teaser visual has also been released.
The pilot film is a proof of concept anime that is based on a TRPG (tactical role-playing game) scenario called Mountains of Madness ~Summit of Deities~, developed by MadaraUsi. The TRPG itself is inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos and mountain climbing.
The production team for the anime includes Yuusaku Kumagai (FreakAngels director) as director, Senbon Umishima (Recovery of an MMO Junkie) as character designer, Ryuu Ooyama as creature designer, Chiemi Kurosaki (Shounen Ashibe Go! Go! Goma-chan) as animation director, Yasutada Katou (When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace) as art director, and Ryuuichi Takada (Summer Time Rendering) as music composer. G-angle and STEREOTYPE are in charge of the animation production.
A crowdfunding campaign for NAKED PEAK -climb the Mountains of Madness- was launched in Japan on December 14, 2021, amassing 1491% over its original financial stretch goals. Around 11,862 supporters pledged 119 million yen (US$871,954.65) for the pilot film’s production. The production team hopes that the pilot will eventually lead to a feature-length anime film.
