The latest trailer has been released for the Inherit the Winds anime series during the Aniplex One Focus online event last weekend, spotlighting some previously announced characters and their voice actors. The upcoming anime will premiere in Japan in January 2027.
The characters highlighted in the trailer include Yamanami Keisuke, Harada Sanosuke, Nagakura Shinpachi, Todo Heisuke, and Serizawa Kamo.
Tomohiro Kawamura (Air Bound) is directing the anime series, with Ebina Fumi as character designer. The story is inspired by the Tachikawa Jinsuke stage play series by Yutaka Narui, who is also in charge of writing the scripts for the series. The anime will be co-produced by Live2D Creative Studio and Drive.

The anime is also receiving an advanced two-week theatrical screening in Japan, starting on November 13, 2026
A four-panel manga adaptation by Matsuri Muramatsu will also be published by Kodansha later this year.
Inherit the Winds was first announced at Aniplex Online Fest in September 2025. The anime is set during the third year of the Bunkyu era at a time of unrest in Japan. It follows an amnesiac individual named Tachikawa Jinsuke, whose recollection of his memories has large consequences.
