Masami Obari to Direct New AMAIM Warrior at the borderline Anime

The AMAIM Warrior at the borderline (Kyoukai Senki) original mecha series is inspiring a new anime titled Kyoukai Senki: Kyokko no Souki. Veteran animator Masami Obari (Gundam Build Fighters Battlogue, Super Robot Taisen OG: The Inspector, Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture) is listed as the director of the new show.

The returning staff from AMAIM Warrior at the borderline includes Noboru Kimura as series composer, Kenichi Ohnuki as character designer, and Rasmus Faber as music composer. Out of the original show’s four mecha designers, Kanetake Ebikawa and Ippei Gyoubu are returning for the new anime. This time, they are joined by their Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury co-mecha designer Takayuki Yanase

The announcement tweet for Kyoukai Senki: Kyokko no Souki says that it will feature a “new ‘Kyoukai Senki’ world” as depicted by Obari. The project is currently in the planning stage.

AMAIM Warrior at the borderline aired from 2021 to 2022 with two split cours and 25 episodes in total. The show is set in a world divided into four economic blocs, with each bloc possessing humanoid mechs called AMAIMs. Additionally, Japan is an oppressed vassal state that has also become the frontlines of a conflict. Sixteen-year-old mechanical enthusiast Amo Shiiba, upon meeting an autonomous AI called Gai, decides to reclaim Japan with his self-built AMAIM, Kenbu. Meanwhile, Gashin Tezuka, a brusque teenager who is part of a resistance, pursues a mysterious aircraft called Ghost.
