Banished From The Heroes’ Party Receives Second Season

The official Twitter account for the Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside anime series has announced that a second season is in production. Further details about the follow-up will be made at a later date. 

The first 13-episode anime season aired from October 6, 2021 to December 29, 2021 after an initial July delay. Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan, with it now being available on Crunchyroll in English-speaking countries and territories as well. 

The voice cast for Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside included Ryouta Suzuki as Red, Kanon Takao as Rit, Naomi Oozora as Ruti, Sora Amamiya as Yarandrala, Taku Yashiro as Ares, Aya Uchida as Theodora, Kenta Miyake as Danan, and Rie Kugimiya as Tise. Other cast members consisted of Kouhei Amasaki as Albert, Masahiro Yamanaka as Gonz, Sora Tokui as Nao, Takeru Mishina as Mido, and Yuu Serizawa as Tanta. 

Original light novel illustrator Yasumo, manga adaptation artist Masahiro Ikeno, and series character designer Ruriko Watanabe all posted commemorative illustrations to celebrate news of the second season. 

Additionally, Suzuki, Takao, and Oozora posted their own illustrations and messages to commemorate the second season’s announcement. 

Series director Makoto Hoshino and scriptwriter Megumi Shimizu also offered their own messages to celebrate the occasion. 

The production team for the first season included Makoto Hoshino (DamePri Anime Caravan, KING’S RAID: Successors of the Will) as director, Megumi Shimizu (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) as scriptwriter, and Ruriko Watanabe (KutsuDaru) as character designer. Wolfsbane and Studio Flad handled the animation production for the anime series. 

Banished from the Heroes’ Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside was first published as a light novel in June 2018, with 11 volumes released as of April 2022. It is published under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint and has also inspired a manga adaptation released in May 2018.

Yen Press releases the light novels and manga in English. It describes the story as:

Red was once a member of the Hero’s party, a powerful group destined to save the world from the evil forces of Taraxon, the Raging Demon Lord. That is, until one of his comrades kicked him out. Hoping to live the easy life on the frontier, Red’s new goal is to open an apothecary. However, keeping the secret of his former life may not be as simple as he thinks. Especially when the beautiful Rit, an adventurer from his past, shows up and asks to move in with him!
