Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break Premieres on October 9

Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break, the fifth season of the Yowamushi Pedal anime series, will premiere in Japan on October 9, the anime’s Twitter account has revealed.

The previous season, Yowamushi Pedal: Glory Line, aired in 2018. The first season aired in 2013 and was followed by Yowamushi Pedal: Grande Road in 2014 and Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation in 2017.

The anime is based on the Akita Shoten-published manga by Wataru Watanabe, which began in 2008 and has 78 tankoubon volumes as of June 2022. The manga is serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion and published under the Shonen Champion Comics label.

A spin-off titled Yowamushi Pedal: Spare Bike, also by Watanabe, began in 2012. The manga has also inspired an anime movie, live-action drama, a video game, and a live-action movie.

Yen Press describes the Yowamushi Pedal manga as:

For the love of all things otaku–anime, video games, figures, you name it!
Power-pedaling Sakamichi Onoda has long been conquering the steepest slopes and regularly making the ninety-kilometer round-trip to Akihabara on a mommy bike!! But when his bike commute to his new high school lands him in a confrontation with the serious first-year road racer Imaizumi, Onoda has a major showdown on his hands! Can this meek geek really out-pedal the future ace of the school road-racing team?!

Osamu Nabeshima, who directed all of the previous seasons, is directing Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break. Hiroyuki Horiuchi, who was credited as main animator on some seasons and as ride designer on others, is on board the new season as the latter.

Additionally, returning from the third and fourth seasons are Yukiko Ban as character designer, Kurasumi Sunayama (now credited as script writer instead of series composer),  and Yoshio Mizumura and Hiyori Denforword Akishino (now credited with mechanic designs instead of design works).
