D4DJ Double Mix Anime Special To Air on August 9

The official Twitter for the D4DJ franchise has announced that the D4DJ Double Mix anime special will be scheduled to air on August 19, 2022. It will be broadcast on the Tokyo MX and BS-NTV Japanese television channels. 

The production team also revealed a new key visual, featuring DJ groups Merm4id and Rondo as central characters. They are collaborating on new music that will specifically be featured in the special’s concert scenes.

Seiji Mizushima (D4DJ First Mix) is serving as chief director for the special after directing the first season. Daisuke Suzuki takes over his role as director. Gou Zappa is handling series composition and Ami Satou is writing the screenplay. Merm4id’s producer Kazushi Miyakoda is composing the special’s music. Bushiroad is credited with the original work and production credits. SANZIGEN is handling the animation production. 

Previous voice cast members from D4DJ First Mix include Yuuka Nishio as Rinku Aimoto, Karin Kagami as Maho Akashi, Haruka Mimura as Muni Oonaruto, and Kanon Shizaki as Rei Togetsu. 

The first season aired from October 30, 2020 to January 29, 2021 and ran for 13 episodes. A second season will air in Winter 2023. The anime was streamed worldwide on numerous platforms such as Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Sentai Filmworks.

Funimation describes the first season as:

Having moved back to Japan from abroad, Rinku Aimoto transfers to Yoba Academy where DJing is popular. She is deeply moved by a DJ concert she sees there, and decides to form a unit of her own with Maho Akashi, Muni Oonaruto, and Rei Togetsu.

While interacting with the other DJ units like Peaky P-key and Photon Maiden, Rinku and her friends aim for the high stage!
