Sasaki and Miyano – The Stage has released a key visual, which features the titular characters reading a manga in a classroom. Its schedule was also revealed, with the play to run from July 23 to July 31 at Tokyo’s THEATRE1010.
The cast lineup for the Sasaki and Miyano stage play was released as well. The cast includes Shuuji Kikuchi as Shumei Sasaki, Ryouhei Takenaka as Yoshikazu Miyano, Kandai Ueda as Taiga Hirano, Bishin Kawasumi as Jiro Ogasawara, Kento Kitamura as Masato Hanzawa, Kaisei Abe as Tasuku Kuresawa, and Ryuujirou Izaki as Gonzaburo Tashiro.
Naohiro Ise (PERSONA5 the Stage #4 FINAL director) is the director and screenwriter of the play.
The Sasaki and Miyano manga by Shou Harusono began in 2016, while an anime series directed by Shinji Ishihira and produced by Studio Deen premiered in January 2022. A sequel to the anime was announced in late March.
Yen Press describes the story as:
It all started like a typical old-school boys’ love plotline—bad-boy senior meets adorably awkward underclassman, one of them falls in love, and so on and so forth. But although Miyano is a self-proclaimed boys’ love expert, he hasn’t quite realized…he’s in one himself. Which means it’s up to Sasaki to make sure their story has a happily ever after…!
The Kadokawa-published manga is serialized on Gene Pixiv and published under the Gene Pixiv Series label. It has eight tankoubon volumes as of December 2021. Aside from the anime, it has inspired two light novels and a drama CD. One of the light novels, a spin-off titled Hirano and Kagiura, inspired a manga series that began in 2019.
