The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 has released more promotional material in the form of a third trailer and visual. The former previews the ending song “Yuzurenai” by Chiai Fujikawa.
The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 is set to premiere on April 6, with Crunchyroll streaming the show outside of Japan and the rest of Asia. It is based on the Kadokawa-published light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Seira Minami. The first anime season aired in 2019 with 25 episodes.
Crunchyroll describes the first season as:
Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?
Returning staff from the first season are Keigo Koyanagi as series composer, Masahiro Suwa as character designer, and Kevin Penkin as music composer. Directing the second season is Masato Jinbo (Restaurant to Another World Season 2). Kinema Citrus is once again the animation production company, but is sharing credits with DR Movie this time.
The voice cast from the anime’s first season are all reprising their roles, with Kana Hanazawa joining the cast as Ost Hourai.
