Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall Announced, Visual Released

A new Black Rock Shooter TV anime titled Black Rock Shooter: Dawn Fall has been announced. A visual by illustrator huke was also released.

Black Rock Shooter originated as an original character by huke in 2007. The character inspired huke’s fellow supercell member ryo to create a song based on the illustration, with vocaloid Hatsune Miku providing the vocals. huke produced a PV for the song.

A comment by huke on the animes website says, “A new anime installment for Black★Rock Shooter…? Like, for real?! When I received this offer, I was just as surprised as all of you fans out there. I hope you will look forward to where Black★Rock Shooter is headed. It’s hard to believe all this started from a single illustration.”

Black Rock Shooter inspired an OVA in 2010 and an anime TV series in 2012, as well as video games and manga. Both anime adaptations were directed by Shinobu Yoshioka, who recently directed 2020’s Rebirth. Studio Trigger’s Hiroyuki Imaishi was the CG battle director for the 2012 series.

Melvyn originally wanted to write about video games, so he spent a few years, starting from his college days, doing so. He still likes video games, but now focuses on writing anime-related news content and the occasional review for Anime Trending. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive.
