The upcoming Hula Fulla Dance anime movie has received a new trailer, which previews its characters, story, the theme song “Sunflower” by Philosophy no Dance, and the hula dancing sequences. A new visual was also released.
The movie will release in Japan on December 3.
The story follows Hiwa Natsunagi, a high school girl who becomes a new member of the Hula Girls, a hula dancing team at the Spa Resorts Hawaiians in Fukishima’s city of Iwaki, despite her inexperience. Hiwa and the other four new members of the team fail their first dance miserably due to their inability to be in sync and are labelled as “the most lamentable newcomers ever.” Even so, the girls find their bonds strengthening as they experience love, dieting, and hula dancing together, as well as sharing both good and bad experiences.
Hula Fulla Dance‘s staff includes Shinya Watada (Aikatsu Stars! The Movie, Gundam Build Divers) as director, Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist) as supervising director, Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Violet Evergarden) as scriptwriter, Hiroko Yaguchi (Aikatsu!) as character designer, Kaori Hino (Sleeping Princess) as art director, Masumi Ootsuka (Aikatsu!, Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop) as color designer, and Youichi Oogami (Aikatsu!, Inuyasha) as director of photography, and Michiru Oshima (Fullmetal Alchemist, Bloom Into You) as music composer. Bandai Namco Pictures is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the main cast includes Haruka Fukuhara as Hiwa, Karen Miyama as Kanna Kamakura, Miu Tomita as Ranko Takigawa, Kaori Maeda as Ohana Kaaihue, and Emiri Suyama as Shion Shirosawa.
Both the Hula Girls team and the Spa Resorts Hawaiians exist in real life. Additionally, Toshio Shimizu, the mayor of Iwaki, has a role in the movie as an employee of the Spa Resorts Hawaiians who serves ale to the five girls.
