Toei Animation announced a new Dragon Ball Super movie scheduled for 2022. The announcement comes in celebration of Goku Day on May 9.
It will be the second film based on the Dragon Ball Super manga and anime series. The most recent film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly, debuted in 2018 and grossed over $120 million worldwide.
The second film was in production in 2018, before the release of Broly, and is being developed “with the goal of telling a large-scale story that would build on the enthusiastic response for the previous theatrical series and the current global fervor for “Broly.””
Akira Toriyama, the original creator, shared a message in celebration of the news.
