Kodansha USA Licenses Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch: Aqua & Messiah -CODE EDGE- for Digital Release

Kodansha USA has licensed two new manga series that it will release digitally throughout June 2023. It includes the romance story Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch: Aqua and the action-packed spy thriller Messiah -CODE EDGE-.

Each of the digital manga series will be available upon release across all participating digital vendors such as Bookwalker, Apple Books, Kobo, and more. 

Here are the details for each of the new digital titles: 


Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch: Aqua

Story and art: Pink Hanamori

Release Date: June 6, 2023

Hanamori first serialized the manga in Nakayoshi magazine on August 3, 2021. Two tankoubon volumes have been released as of September 2022. It is a follow-up to the original Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch that was written by screenwriter Michiko Yokote and illustrated by Hanamori. It ran in Nakayoshi from August 2002 to March 2005 and released a total of seven tankoubon volumes. 

The manga also inspired a television anime adaptation that ran for a total of 91 episodes from 2003 to 2004. 

Synopsis

Lukia Nanami is turning seventeen. Her family has just moved to a town by the sea, and on her first walk down to the beach, she saves a handsome surfer from drowning. The next day, she’s shocked to discover he’s not only a classmate at her new school, but has no idea who she is, and insists he was saved by a mermaid! A new chapter in the saga of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, from original artist Pink Hanamori!

The manga first debuted in pixiv’s Palcy manga app in December 2017. Three tankoubon volumes have been released in Japan as of May 2019.

Synopsis

Mysterious, handsome young men working as spy-pairs for a secret agency, the Church, are forbidden to love anyone but their partners. If they’re to survive—not only war, but the ghosts of their tragic pasts—they must rely on one another to be there… because each other is all they have. Follow Eiri, Haku, Soma, and Shusuke as they battle their inner demons with the help of their partners in this peek into the Messiah Project universe.
