Bungo Stray Dogs is based on the KADOKAWA-published manga written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, which began in 2012 and has 23 tankoubon volumes as of December 2022. The first two anime seasons were released in 2016, while the third was released in 2019. An anime movie titled Bungo Stray Dogs: DEAD APPLE was released in 2018.
Yen Press describes the manga as:
Having been kicked out of the orphanage, a despairing young man by the name of Atsushi Nakajima rescues a strange man from a suicide attempt–Osamu Dazai. Turns out that Dazai is part of an armed-detective agency staffed by individuals whose supernatural powers take on a literary bent!
The Bungo Stray Dogs manga is serialized in Young Ace and published under the Kadokawa Comics Ace label. Its Bungo Stray Dogs WAN! spin-off was adapted into a 2021 anime that was co-produced by Bones with Nomad. Aside from the anime, the manga has also inspired a live-action movie, stage play, light novels, and more.
Some of the new cast members that joined in Season 4 include Takehito Koyasu as Nikolai G, Makoto Koichi as Teruko Okura, Akio Ootsuka as Ochi Fukuchi, Takeshi Kusao as Mushitarou Oguri, and Shouya Chiba as Sigma.
