The Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki: 2nd Stage anime, an upcoming follow-up to 2021’s Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki, has received a teaser trailer and visual. The latter notably features Hanabi Natsubayashi in its front and center.

Hanabi is also featured in the last cut of the teaser trailer, where she asks someone to teach her their ways of handling things and facing issues. An earlier cut has her declaring that she wants to change herself.

Additionally, the staff credits for Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki: 2nd Stage reveal the return of director Shinsuke Yanagi, character designer Akane Yano, series composer Fumihiko Shimo, and animation production company project No.9.

Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki is based on the Shogakukan-published light novels written by Yuuki Yaku and illustrated by Fly, which are published under the Gagaga Bunko label. The first season had 12 episodes while 2nd Stage will have 13.

Yen Press describes the light novels as:

Tomozaki is one of the best gamers in Japan, and in his opinion, the game of real life is one of the worst. No clear-cut rules for success, horribly balanced, and nothing makes sense. But then he meets a gamer who’s just as good as him, and she offers to teach him a few exploits…

The light novel series began in 2016 and has 12 volumes, including two short story collections, as of January 2022. The light novels have inspired a manga adaptation by Eito Chida and a manga spin-off centered on Minami Nanami by Bana Yoshida.

The anime’s cast includes:

Gen Satou as Fumiya Tomozaki
Hisako Kanemoto as Aoi Hinami
Ikumi Hasegawa as Minami
Ai Kayano as Fuuka Kikuchi
Ryouko Maekawa as Hanabi
Nene Hieda as Yuzu Izumi
