The recent announcement stream for Genshin Impact version 3.1 teased new characters, quests, events, and the release of Sumeru’s desert area. As of September 28, version 3.1 is now live.
The harsh desert of Sumeru is littered with dungeons full of puzzles and robotic guardians of the perished god and his ancient civilization. At the heart of the desert, players will find the Mausoleum of King Deshret, a pyramid featuring an inverted top and a vortex spiraling towards its center. The desert is also home to Aaru Village — the largest settlement of the desert people and safe harbor for the exiled scholars of the Akademiya. The latest Archon Quest will continue as players explore the desert and find more factions, including two Fatui Harbingers, Il Dottore and Scaramouche.
Three new playable characters are introduced with this update. Nilou is the sword-wielding five-star Hydro character players met in the Archon Quest from the 3.0 update.
Cyno is a five-star Electro polearm user who makes his home in the Sumeru desert. He is also a fan of the Genius Invokation trading card game that is confirmed to be added with version 3.3.
Candace is a four-star character and the first Hydro polearm wielder to be released in Genshin Impact. She is a blood descendant of King Deshret and guardian of Aaru Village.
The first half of version 3.1 will feature a banner with Cyno and Venti as the five-star characters with Candace also available. The second half of version 3.1 will feature a banner with Nilou and Albedo as the five-star characters.
The daily login event returns with version 3.1. Players will have the opportunity to obtain up to 10 Intertwined Fates in addition to other item rewards. Additionally 1,600 Primogems, 4 Fragile Resins, and two unique gadgets — “Jumpy Dumpty Party Popper” and “Cloud Retainer’s Damasked Device” — will be delivered via the in-game mail system. Players who complete Floor 4, Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss will be rewarded with a free copy of Collei.
Two new mechanical boss enemies can be found in version 3.1. The Algorithm of Semi-Intransient Matrix of Overseer Network is the leader of the robotic guardians of the Mausoleum of King Deshret and has the ability to become invisible in combat. In the Sumeru rainforest, players will be able to find another new boss enemy— the Aeonblight Drake.
Three new events will be playable in version 3.1 — the Weinlesefest, the Wind Chaser event, and the Star-Seeker’s Sojourn.
The Weinlesefest takes place in Mondstadt and features a major seasonal event and four different mini-games. The rewards for this event include a free four-star weapon, “Missive Windspear,” and its enhancement material. Players also have the opportunity to learn about Razor’s past.
The Wind Chaser event is a special domain challenge where players will manage the energy of the wind. The Star Seeker’s Sojourn event will have players assisting a young girl in her search for future stars.
