Kokyu no Karasu has received its second main trailer, which features both the ending song “Natsu no Yuki” by krage and the opening song “MYSTERIOUS” by Queen Bee.
The new promotional video also shows Mana Hirata‘s Ishiha and Reina Ueda‘s Un Kajou. Both voice actors were recently revealed to be part of the cast. The previously revealed characters are also given another preview.
Kokyu no Karasu is set to premiere in Japan on October 1. It is based on the light novels written by Kouko Shirakawa and illustrated by Ayuko, which began in 2018 and have seven volumes as of April 21, 2022. The books are published under the Shueisha Orange Bunko label.
The story revolves around Jusetsu, a woman who is the current Uhi, a special concubine that dwells within the inner palace but doesn’t attend to the emperor. The Uhi is perceived by some as an old lady, and by others as a young girl. She is also said to have special abilities that allow her to tackle various tasks, ranging from casting curses to finding lost objects. One day, the emperor visits her to make a request, unaware of the consequences of their meeting.
The anime’s staff includes Chizuru Miyawaki (Gintama: The Final) as director, Satomi Oshima (Hataraki Man) as series composer, Shinji Takeuchi (Gintama: The Final) as character designer, Norifumi Nakamura (Amaim Warrior at the Borderline) as art director, Ritsuko Utagawa (Mieruko-chan) as color designer, Arimasa Watanabe (The House of the Lost on the Cape) as photography director, and Asami Tachibana (Moriarty the Patriot) as music composer. BN Pictures is the animation production company.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Saku Mizuno as Jusetsu Ryu, Masaaki Mizunaka as Koshun Ka, Taku Yashiro as Eisei, and Marika Kouno as Jiu Jiu.
