The production team for The Dangers in My Heart romantic comedy anime series has revealed an updated version of their initial teaser visual. The new visual is similar to the “2nd phase” version released earlier this month, but now features protagonist Kyoutarou Ichikawa watching class idol Anna Yamada in the background.

The anime adaptation is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023. An animation production company and staff have yet to be revealed for the series.

The original manga series by Norio Sakurai was first serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shounen Champion on March 8, 2018, before transferring to the Manga Cross website under the Shonen Champion Comics label. Seven tankoubon volumes have been released as of August 2022.

The series has also placed first in AnimeJapan’s fourth annual “Manga We Want to See Animated” rankings

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga for English publication in December 2020. It describes the story as:

Quirky courtship awaits in this comedy nominated for the 2020 Manga Taisho Award!

Kyoutaoru Ichikawa, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school’s social ladder, secretly believes he’s the tortured lead in some psychological thriller. He spends his days dreaming up ways to disrupt his classmates’ peaceful lives and pining after Anna Yamada, the class idol. But Kyotaro’s not nearly the troubled teen he pretends to be…and it turns out Anna’s a bit odd herself!
