Reincarnated as a Sword has released its first trailer, offering a look at its main characters and action sequences. A key visual was also released, while an October Japanese premiere date was announced.

Main staff details were also revealed, with Shinji Ishihira (Sasaki and Miyano) as director, Takahiro Nagano (Yo-kai Watch: Reborn scriptwriter) as series composer and scriptwriter, and Atsuko Saitou (Shachibato! President, It’s Time for Battle! chief animation director) as character designer and chief animation director. Team-MAX’s Yasuharu Takanashi is the music composer, while C2C is the animation production company.

The main cast of the anime includes Shin-ichiro Miki as Master, the titular sword character, and Ai Kakuma as Fran.

Reincarnated as a Sword is based on the Micro Magazine-published light novel series written by Yuu Tanaka and illustrated by Rurou. The books began in 2016 and have 12 volumes as of September 2021.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the story as:

Reincarnated as a sentient weapon with memories of his past life, but not his name, a magical sword saves a young beastgirl from a life of slavery. Fran, the cat-eared girl, becomes his wielder, and wants only to grow stronger, while the sword wants to know why he is here. Together, the strange duo’s journey has only just begun!

The series has inspired a Gentosha-published manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama and a Micro Magazine-published manga spin-off by Hinako Inoue in addition to the anime. The story first began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou.

He still likes video games, but now focuses on writing anime-related news content and the occasional review for Anime Trending. Some of his free time is spent self-learning Japanese, both out of interest in the language and because English-translated light novels and manga are expensive.
