The fourth season of the dark isekai fantasy series Overlord will premiere sometime this July 2022. A second PV trailer for the anime has been released to promote the series ahead of its summer debut.
News of a fourth season was first announced last May 2021, with an initial PV trailer and key visual released later in December. Original light novel illustrator so-bin expressed excitement after hearing the news because he will be able to see the series’ 10th volume finally be animated.
Many of the cast from previous seasons are reprising their roles, including Satoshi Hino as Ainz, Yumi Hara as Albedo, Sumire Uesaka as Shalltear, Emiri Katou as Aura, Yumi Uchiyama as Mare, Masayuki Katou as Demiurge, and Kenta Miyake as Cocytus.
MADHOUSE is once again handling animation production for the series. The production staff for the fourth season includes Naoyuki Itou (Hunter × Hunter: Phantom Rouge) as director, Yukie Sugawara (Combatants Will Be Dispatched!) as script writer, and Satoshi Tasaki (No Game, No Life Zero) as character designer. So-bin is credited as the original character designer.
Crunchyroll describes the first season as:
When a popular MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down permanently, veteran player Momonga refuses to log out. As NPCs begin to develop personalities and minds of their own he decides to put his skills to use as the game’s new overlord.
