Major League Soccer team San Diego FC has announced its first partnership with VIZ Media for a special Captain Tsubasa collaboration during its 2026 Baja Cup match against Club Tijuana on September 16, 2026.
The collaboration will include a “Captain Tsubasa Ticket Package” that contains a ticket to the Baja Cup match, along with an exclusive limited-edition Captain Tsubasa scarf.
More details regarding the partnership with VIZ Media and Captain Tsubasa will be announced at a later date.
The Captain Tsubasa soccer manga by Yoichi Takahashi was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from 1981 to 1988. Thirty-seven total tankobon volumes were released in Japan.
The manga inspired several TV anime series and films, as well as multiple sequel manga and video games.
Shueisha’s Manga PLUS service releases the Captain Tsubasa manga in English digitally. It describes the series as:
