The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season Reveals 3rd Trailer, Premiere Date, Opening Theme

The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season has received a third trailer, which includes a preview of the newly announced opening song “grayscale dominator” by OxT, and an October 4 Japanese premiere date. A key visual was also released.

The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season will have 12 episodes. Its first season premiered on October 5, 2022 and ran for 20 episodes. The anime is based on the KADOKAWA-published isekai light novel series by Daisuke Aizawa with illustrations from Azunishi, which began in 2018 and has five volumes as of December 2022.

Yen Press describes the light novels as:

Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind…or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one! And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid jokingly recruits members to his organization and makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult that they need to take down. Well, as luck would have it, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal-and everyone knows the truth but him!

The returning staff for The Eminence in Shadow 2nd Season includes Kazuya Nakanishi (Comic Girls assistant director, Vivid Strike! main animator) as director, Kanichi Katou (Those Snow White Notes) as series composer, and Makoto Iino (Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town) as character designer. Nexus is again the animation production company.

The new season of the anime will see the addition of Ai Kakuma as Mary, Shizuka Itou as Yukime, Tsuyoshi Koyama as Juggernaut, and Tomokazu Sugita as Crimson. The existing cast of the anime includes:

• Seiichirou Yamashita as Cid Kagenou
