Crunchyroll is adding yet another Dragon Ball anime movie for streaming, with 2022’s Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero set to arrive on the platform on July 12. There will be both subbed and dubbed options.
Crunchyroll had previously distributed Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero across theaters globally, with the movie making its way to over 100 countries with 13 dub and 29 subtitled languages. The film made $96 million worldwide and is the fourth highest grossing anime film in the US.
Last week, the streaming service revealed that it was adding 15 Dragon Ball anime movies, ranging from 1989’s Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone to 2018’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly, to its service, with the first batch dropping on June 22. The second batch will arrive on July 29 before being followed by Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super: Broly on July 6.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is the second film inspired by the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga series. Crunchyroll describes the plot as:
The Red Ribbon Army was once destroyed by Son Goku. Individuals, who carry on its spirit, have created the ultimate Androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. These two Androids call themselves “Super Heroes”. Tetsurou Kodama (Dragon Ball Super: Broly co-CG sequence director) directed the film at Toei Animation with Chikashi Kubota (One-Punch Man character designer) as animation director, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama as character designer and scriptwriter, Nobuhito Sue (Dragon Ball Super: Broly art designer) as art director, Rumiko Nagai (Dragon Ball Super: Broly) as color designer, and Naoki Satou (Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution) as music composer.
