A fan\u2019s screening session of <\/span>Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night<\/span><\/i> will kick off in Singapore on November 20. The 97-minute film will be screened with English and Mandarin subtitles at Orchard Cineleisure and will only be opened to vaccinated customers.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The fan\u2019s screening goodies include a T-shirt, four A2-sized posters, a can badge, an A4 file folder, and acrylic stands of Asuna and Kirito.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The film is scheduled to screen on October 30 in Japan, with Aniplex releasing a <\/span>new trailer<\/span><\/a> in September.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The film is inspired by <\/span>Aria on a Starless Night,<\/span><\/i> one of the stories from the <\/span>Sword Art Online: Progressive<\/span><\/i> light novels\u2019 first volume. However, the movie features an original character called Mito and appears to have a heavier focus on series heroine Asuna.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Progressive <\/span><\/i>series expands on the \u201cAincrad Arc\u201d of the original and still ongoing Sword Art Online series. The first volume was published in 2012, while the eighth and latest volume was published in June 2021. Both the main and <\/span>Progressive<\/span><\/i> series are written by Reki Kawahara with illustrations by abec.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yen Press describes <\/span>Progressive<\/span><\/i> as:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way to beat this game. The only difference is when and where you die\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

One month has passed since Akihiko Kayaba\u2019s deadly game began, and the body count continues to rise. Two thousand players are already dead.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Kirito and Asuna are two very different people, but they both desire to fight alone. Nonetheless, they find themselves drawn together to face challenges from both within and without. Sword Art Online: Progressive is a new version of the Sword Art Online tale that starts at the beginning of Kirito and Asuna\u2019s epic adventure\u2013on the very first level of the deadly world of Aincrad!<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

The film\u2019s staff includes<\/span> Ayako K\u014dn\u014d<\/b> (<\/span>86 EIGHTY-SIX<\/span><\/i> storyboarder) as director, <\/span>Kento Toya<\/b> (<\/span>Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld<\/span><\/i> co-character designer and co-chief animation director) as character designer and chief animation director, and<\/span> Yasuyuki Kai<\/b> (<\/span>My Hero Academia: World Heroes\u2019 Mission<\/span><\/i> key animator, <\/span>Haikyu! The Movie: Battle of Concepts<\/span><\/i> co-action animation director) as action director.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Other staff include <\/span>Yusa It\u014d<\/b> (<\/span>Woodpecker Detective\u2019s Office<\/span><\/i>) as art director, <\/span>Naomi Nakano<\/b> (<\/span>The Aquatope on White Sand<\/span><\/i>) as color designer, <\/span>Yuki \u014cshima<\/b> (<\/span>Cells at Work!!<\/span><\/i>) as photography director, <\/span>Kengo Oda<\/b> (<\/span>Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld Final Season<\/span><\/i>) and <\/span>Hiroshi Nakajima <\/b>(<\/span>Fate\/Apocrypha<\/span><\/i>) as CG directors, and <\/span>Yuki Kajiura<\/b> (<\/span>The Case Study of Vanitas<\/span><\/i>) as music composer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, <\/span>Aya Akizuki<\/b> (<\/span>Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld<\/span><\/i> co-sub designer), <\/span>Tomomi Ishikawa<\/b> (<\/span>PERSONA5 the Animation<\/span><\/i> character designer), and <\/span>Keisuke Watanabe<\/b> (<\/span>Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club<\/span><\/i> chief animation director) are the sub character designers. <\/span>A-1 Pictures<\/b> is animating the film.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the cast includes <\/span>Yoshitsugu Matsuoka<\/b> as Kirito,<\/span> Haruka Tomatsu<\/b> as Asuna, and<\/span> Inori Minase<\/b> as Mito.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
