A new teaser trailer for indie anime Hikari has been released, previewing some of its live-action locations and unfinished footage with music that helps it deliver a grander impression than its prequel, ame/rité. A 2027 release date was also revealed.
ame/rité was a sub-nine minute short, released on YouTube in August, where regular girl Aya Kuronjo ends up involved in a battle between the mysterious Tanita Shintani and a supernatural creature. The backgrounds used live-action shots of Yamagata City.
Both ame/rité and Hikari are produced by Studio Sample, which comprises director Killer Washing Machine and lead key animator Nekoless. In a text interview, the former told us that Hikari is their graduation project, and that “the scale and the quality will be much greater” than its predecessor.
