The fantasy light novel series is written by Ryo Ariyama and was published under Shogakukan’s Gagaga Books imprint from June 19, 2020 to November 18, 2025. Kodama illustrated the first volume of the series, with Ryo Kamito later providing illustrations for volumes two through six. Seven total volumes have been published as of November 2025, comprising six main volumes and a side story volume. The series originally began as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel in August 2019.
A manga adaptation by Kamito was launched in April 2021. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga for English release under the title Romelia War Chronicle: Even After Defeating the Demon King, Humanity Still Seems Doomed, So I Formed a Military Force.
Crunchyroll will stream Romelia War Chronicle and describes the synopsis as:
Romelia and her party succeed in defeating the Demon King Zelgis, though Prince Henri’s reckless charge forces them into a grueling battle. In the aftermath, Romelia is branded “dead weight” for not fighting directly, and the Prince unilaterally breaks off their engagement. Denied a place in the victory celebrations, Romelia returns home, only to be met with cold indifference from her family and society. Yet, she refuses to break. She has already set her sights on the path that lies ahead.
