Nike has officially announced a collaboration collection with the long-running manga and anime franchise One Piece, stating the collection aims to blend the series’s fantasy elements with the brand’s footwear and apparel lines.
The collection centers on three versions of the Nike Air Max Plus, each themed around a different Devil Fruit from the series: the Gomu Gomu no Mi, Ope Ope no Mi, and Mera Mera no Mi. According to Nike, the shoes feature completely retooled uppers exclusive to the collection, paired with jerseys and caps drawn from the Nike archive.
Beyond footwear, the lineup includes T-shirts, caps, and a vest. One T-shirt design draws on the Jolly Roger flag, described in the collection as “a mark of a promise” originally drawn by protagonist Monkey D. Luffy. Other apparel pieces incorporate actual manga panels reworked in the style of classic Nike ads, along with a joint Nike x One Piece logo. The vest design nods to the trade-off Devil Fruit users face in the story — becoming unable to swim once they gain their powers.
Speaking on the creative direction, Nick Remlinger, GM of Energy Gaming at Nike, said the team was inspired by the superhuman abilities unlocked when characters eat Devil Fruits, likening it to the “feeling an athlete has when they put on a pair of Nikes,” adding that more surprises are still to come as the collection rolls out.
The collection will roll out through a mix of pop-ups, retail partners, and a global online drop:
- • September 4-6 — Tokyo pop-up
- • September 12 — Hong Kong (HBX, Nike Lab PS7), Jakarta (Invincible), Mexico City (Lust), Seoul (Worksout, • Tune), Shanghai (Nike Lab), Taipei (Phantaci), Umeda (Nike Umeda)

One Piece, Eiichiro Oda‘s long-running pirate epic, is currently in the middle of its Elbaph Arc, both in the manga and the anime. Recently, Toei Animation announced a major reorganization of the anime’s production schedule, adopting a two-cour annual broadcast format that delivers around 26 new episodes per year instead of the usual 40-50, a change made to let episodes track the manga’s content and pacing more closely.
Looking ahead, WIT STUDIO is producing a full remake titled THE ONE PIECE, retelling the story from the East Blue arc onward for Netflix, running alongside the original Toei series rather than replacing it, with its first eight-episode season confirmed to stream in February 2027.
Meanwhile, Oda confirmed at the ONE PIECE DAY’26 event that the series will run longer than four more years, with plenty of story left to tell, and the franchise announced two new movie projects, which include One Piece Film God Valley and One Piece Film Baad, which will debut in Japanese theaters in summer 2027 and 2029, respectively.
VIZ Media releases the One Piece manga in English and describes the series as:
As a child, Monkey D. Luffy was inspired to become a pirate by listening to the tales of the buccaneer “Red-Haired” Shanks. But his life changed when Luffy accidentally ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit and gained the power to stretch like rubber…at the cost of never being able to swim again! Years later, still vowing to become the king of the pirates, Luffy sets out on his adventure…one guy alone in a rowboat, in search of the legendary “One Piece,” said to be the greatest treasure in the world…
