A new Pokémon animated movie, titled Pokémon: Wild Card, has been announced at the Pokémon XP Inaugural and the 2026 Pokémon World Championships alongside a teaser trailer. The movie is set to release in 2027.
Pokémon: Wild Card is the 24th animated movie to be announced in the Pokémon franchise marking seven years since an animated movie has been released. It is based on the franchises’ trading card game and follows an aspiring Pokémon TCG player and Mimikyu, the disguise Pokémon.
Katsuhiko Kitada will be directing the movie with Akemi Hayashi as the character designer. CloverWorks will be animating the movie.
The Pokémon Company has also made other announcements during Pokémon XP and 2026 Pokémon World Championships including a tesear trailer of Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu that is set to premiere in 2027 on Disney+ worldwide.
