Tsunomaki Watame, a fourth-generation hololive VTuber, will be singing the opening theme “Respawn!!” for the upcoming anime Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden. The update was announced on the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) page.
According to Watame’s statement in the announcement, the song will reflect Nia Liston, the series’ main character, and her personality.
KONAMI animation will be animating the series under the direction of Motoki Nakanishi with assistance from Haruta Segi. The series composition will be handled by Gigaemon Ichikawa, while Yuki Ito and Kana Tosaoka will both work on the character designs. The anime will begin airing on October 6 this year.
Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden is a light novel series written by Umikaze Minamino, with initial illustrations by Jishaku for the first two volumes and illustrations by Katana Canata from the third volume onward. The series was first published on Shosetsuka ni Naro from May 2019 to January 2021 before Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko acquired it and serialized it in September 2022. As of June 2026, 11 volumes have been released. A manga adaptation with illustrations by Kabuto Kodai has also been serialized in Square Enix’s Manga Up! since November 2022.
J-Novel Club has serialized the light novel in English for North America, describing the synopsis as:
A great hero lies undefeated on her deathbed, regretting that she never found a foe who could take her down. She never intended to meet her fate anywhere other than on the battlefield, and her peaceful demise has her wishing desperately that things could have been different… But when she suddenly comes to in the body of the young, frail Nia Liston, she’s got an all-new fight ahead of her.
