2027’s Doraemon anime movie is titled Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Joki Jikansha, and it’ll take place in 19th century London. A super teaser video teases, “The future changes easily with every single choice. This is a story is a story of time, connecting the past, and the future.”
There’s also an accompanying visual that depicts Doraemon on a small steam train, surrounded by gears.
Rushio Moriyama is directing Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Joki Jikansha with a script by Makoto Ueda (The Tatami Time Machine Blues). The movie will be out in spring.
The previous anime film in the Doraemon franchise was this year’s Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil (Eiga Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Kaitei Kiganjo), which started screening in Japan on February 27.
The Doraemon manga by the late duo Fujiko F. Fujio began serialization in 1969 under publisher Shogakukan. 46 tankobon volumes were published between 1974 and 1996 under the Tentomushi Comics label. A Volume 0 was released in 2019.
The first Doraemon TV anime series began airing in 1973, while the current TV series began in 2005. 1980’s Doraemon: Nobita’s Dinosaur was the first anime film in the franchise.
