Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy TV Anime Confirms 3rd Season

Shortly after the second season finale of Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-, a new third season has been announced to be in production. More details will be revealed later on. 

A new visual was released to commemorate the third season’s production announcement. It features the four main characters Makoto, Tomoe, Mio, and Shiki opening a keg with mallets.

The returning production staff for the second season consisted of Shinji Ishikawa as director, Kenta Ihara as series screenwriter, Yukie Suzuki as character designer, and Yasuharu Takanashi music composer. J.C Staff is handling the animation production for season two, taking over from C2C who worked on season one. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes: 

  • • Natsuki Hanae as Makoto Misumi
  • • Ayane Sakura as Tomoe
  • • Akari Kito as Mio
  • • Kenjiro Tsuda as Shiki

The anime is based on the isekai fantasy light novels, written by Kei Azumi and illustrated by Mitsuaki Matsumoto. It was first published by AlphaPolis in May 2013 after beginning as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in 2012. It was then transferred to the AlphaPolis website in 2016. Nineteen physical volumes have been released as of December 2023. Hanashi Media is releasing the light novels in English

A manga adaptation by Kotora Kino was released in 2015, with 13 tankobon volumes released as of December 2023. It is published digitally in English by Alpha Manga. 

The first anime season aired in Japan from July 2021 to September 2021. The second season aired for 24 episodes from January 2024 to June 2024.

Crunchyroll is streaming both seasons of Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy-, and describes season two as: 

After Makoto Misumi defeats Mitsurugi and Sofia Bulga, humanity is saved from the attacking demon army—for the time being. The goddess is aware of Makoto’s growing power, and she sees him as less of a nuisance and more of a rival.

Makoto continues his journey to further expand his community of outcasts and connect with more of his kind. But will he be strong enough to hold off the coming storm?
