Dr. Stone Anime Celebrates 5th Anniversary with the Release of a New Visual

A new key visual featuring the main cast of the Dr. Stone TV anime series has been released to commemorate the show’s upcoming fifth anniversary. The first season premiered in Japan on July 5, 2019 and has inspired a total of three seasons so far. 

The new visual features characters such as Senku, Mecha Senku, Ryusui, Chrome, Gen, Kohaku, Suika, Tsukasa, and Ukyo.

In addition, Dr. Stone fifth anime anniversary merchandise will also be sold at the Animate Fair from August 24, 2024 to September 16, 2024. 

A fourth and final season titled Dr. Stone: Science Future was announced shortly after the end of the second cour of Dr. Stone: New World

The anime’s first season debuted in 2019, while the second season Stone Wars aired in 2021. The first cour of the third season, Dr. Stone: New World, premiered in April 2023, while the second cour aired in October 2023. Crunchyroll, Bilibili, and iQIYI are streaming the anime outside of Japan internationally. 

As of New World, the production staff includes Shuuhei Matsushita as director, Yuuichiro Kido as series screenwriter and scriptwriter, Mayuko Iwasa as character designer, and Hiroyuki Horiuchi as main animator. Tatsuya Kato, Hiroaki Tsutsumi, and YUKI KANESAKA served as music composers for the series. Shinya Iino directed the first two seasons. TMS Entertainment is in charge of the overall animation production.

The anime is based on the manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from March 6, 2017 to March 7, 2022. A total of 27 tankobon volumes were released as of April 2024. 

Viz Media releases the Dr. Stone manga series in English, describing the synopsis as:

One fateful day, all of humanity was petrified by a blinding flash of light. After several millennia, high schooler Taiju awakens and finds himself lost in a world of statues. However, he’s not alone! His science-loving friend Senku’s been up and running for a few months and he’s got a grand plan in mind—to kickstart civilization with the power of science!
