Warner Brothers Japan has released a “super teaser trailer” for the upcoming Cells at Work live-action movie adaptation, which is coming to Japanese theaters this December.

The teaser gives us a look at cell-filled streets and corridors, the swearing-in of Red Blood Cell (Mei Nagano), and gravity-defying action scenes of White Blood Cell (Takeru Satoh). Of course, the hat-wearing platelets make an appearance too.

The live-action movie is directed by Hideki Takeuchi (Fly Me to the Saitama, Thermae Romae) with a script from Yuichi Tokunaga (Kaguya-sama Love is War, Fly Me to the Saitama). Rurouni Kenshin‘s Takahito Ouchi is the action director.

Here’s the synopsis:

Meet the smallest heroes ever to grace the silver screen… the cells within us! The human body is home to an astonishing 37 trillion cells. Red blood cells tirelessly transport oxygen, white blood cells valiantly defend against bacteria, and countless other cells work around the clock to keep you healthy and alive. In December 2024, witness the most epic battle ever fought within the human body!

The Kodansha-published Cells at Work manga by Akane Shimizu ran from 2015 to 2021 in Monthly Shonen Sirius and is collected into six tankoubon volumes. The manga has inspired two anime seasons, a variety of spin-off manga (one of which, Cells at Work! Code Black, has its own anime), light novels, a stage play, and more.
