The Dangers in My Heart Wins Winter 2024 Anime of the Season Title & Scores Other Awards in a Grand Slam

The romantic comedy The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 won Anime of the Season for the Winter 2024 Anime Trending Awards. This marks the first win for studio Shin-Ei Animation, the same animation studio behind Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san and the classic childhood anime Doraemon and Crayon-Shin chan.

With 22,822 votes to its name, The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 snagged the title of Anime of the Season from its competitor 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy by a margin of 18.44%. Both series featured heart-throbbing couples and dramatic moments within the couples’ relationships, but ultimately, The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 took the lead in one of the largest upsets in Anime Trending seasonal history.

Aside from the Anime of the Season title, The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 also scored seven additional awards.

  • • Best Male Character of the Season – Kyotaro Ichikawa
  • • Best Female Character of the Season – Anna Yamada
  • • Best Couple of the Season – Kyotaro and Anna
  • • Best Supporting Female Character – Kana Ichikawa
  • • Favorite Ending Song – “Koishiteru Jibun Sura Aiserunda” by Kohana Lam
  • • Favorite Comedy Anime
  • • Favorite Romance Anime

Although the series’ first season finished in 7th place during the Spring 2023 awards, it is clear that the new leaps and bounds in Kyotaro and Anna’s relationship resonated well with fans, enough that the fans would vote them Best Couple of the Year in the 10th Anime Trending Awards. The Dangers of My Heart now stands alongside titles such as My Dress Up Darling and Bocchi the Rock!, which each have won eight seasonal Anime Trending Awards and several other annual awards.

As such, The Dangers in My Heart will be eligible for the 11th Anime Trending Awards and may prove to be an actual “danger” to multiple titles contending for the annual awards.

7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy Celebrates Its Own Victory

Despite losing out to The Dangers of my Heart Season 2 in multiple awards, the popular female-led isekai 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy managed to snatch two titles: New Anime of the Season and Favorite Drama Anime of Winter 2024.

Rishe’s venture into her seventh life enthralled fans as they witnessed her rise to succession and her blossoming relationship with Arnold. It is no wonder the series won Drama of the Season, outstripping popular favorites like Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki 2nd Stage and Classroom of the Elite Season 3 by a large margin.

Touko Amekawa, the author of 7th Time Loop’s light novel, has been closely watching the rankings since the start of the Winter 2024 season and celebrates the series’ every milestone on her Twitter account. She recently commented on 7th Time Loop’s overall ranking in the Winter 2024 Anime Trending Awards and thanked fans for supporting Rishe’s journey across her seventh life.

As the series won second place in the Winter 2024 Anime Trending Awards, 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy is now eligible for the 11th Anime Trending Awards.

Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I’m Not the Demon Lord, Solo Leveling, and MASHLE: Magic and Muscles Season 2’s Slim Pickings in the Aftermath

With only a handful of awards left, a few series managed to draw votes away from The Danger of My Heart Season 2 and prevented a full-fledged sweep. Notably, Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I’m Not the Demon Lord scored a momentous award for the first time with the Favorite Supporting Male Character award going to Patrick Ashbatten.

Compared to the overpowered and stoic protagonist Yumiella Dolkness, Patrick might have seemed a surprise pick with his more level-headed personality. However, fans warmed up to him when they realized he’d been secretly training to better himself and win Yumiella’s love, despite her insistence to not marry anyone below Level 99. Patrick goes from being her closest confidante to her lover by the penultimate episode, sealed by a kiss in a backdrop of fireworks.

Since the series landed at 5th place overall for the Winter 2024 Anime Awards, Villainess Level 99 will have a second chance to qualify in December for the 11th Anime Trending Awards’ Wildcard Round.

Meanwhile, Solo Leveling is the first Korean manhwa adaptation to win an award at Anime Trending with the Favorite Action or Adventure award.

As one of the most highly anticipated series of Winter 2024, Solo Leveling outdid popular competitors like Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- Season 2 and Delicious in Dungeon with its exhilarating boss fights and the story of Jin-woo’s rise as the ultimate hunter. However, the series was unable to yank the title of Anime of the Season from The Dangers of My Heart Season 2, trailing behind the romantic comedy with 9,100 votes.

Solo Leveling is slated for a second season in the near future with a subheading “Arise from the Shadow.” Perhaps by then, the series will solo its way to the top and win Anime of the Season or, more ambitiously, Anime of the Year.

Finally, it’s no surprise that MASHLE: Magic and Muscles continues to reign in the anime charts, this time winning the Favorite Opening Theme Song award with “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts.

This marked MASHLE: Magic and Muscles’s third award in Anime Trending history, as it previously won Favorite Comedy Anime of Spring 2023 and Favorite Comedy Anime of the Year in the 10th Anime Trending Awards.

Creepy Nuts is also a multi-award winner at the Anime Trending Awards. The eccentric duo previously secured the Favorite Opening and Ending Theme Song awards thrice for their work on Call of the Night. These awards were for the seasonal and annual awards of 2023.

The remaining genre awards went to Delicious in Dungeon, Urusei Yatsura (2022) Season 2, Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside Season 2, and Blue Exorcist -Shimane Illuminati Saga-.
