Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night Releases Kano and Mei Situation Visual

The youth drama anime Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night received an “Oshi to Hiku Piano” situation visual after its second episode, which depicts the characters Kano Yamanouchi and Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi playing the piano together.

In the story, Mei is a pianist and a huge fan of Kano, a former idol. The recent second episode introduced Mei and her backstory, which includes an explanation of how she became a Kano devotee.

Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night began airing on April 6 (effectively April 7 at 1 AM JST) in Japan and is being streamed overseas by HIDIVE and Muse Asia. HIDIVE describes the premise as:

Shibuya is a city full of identity. It is here on Shibuya’s late night streets that illustrator Mahiru Kozuki, former idol Kano Yamanouchi, Vtuber Kiui Watase and composer Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi — four young women who are slightly outside the world — join together and form an anonymous artist group called JELEE. “I” also want to shine like someone else. If it’s not me but “we” then we might be able to shine.

The anime is a Doga Kobo original directed by Ryohei Takeshita (Eromanga Sensei and Pokémon: Paldean Winds) with Bottom-Tier Tomozaki author Yuuki Yaku as series composer and scriptwriter. A manga by Niko Fujii debuted in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app on April 7.
