The Spring 2024 anime season has begun with a wave of incoming new series and returning sequels. The Anime Trending Community recently voted for their most anticipated titles of the Spring 2024 season, and you can read the full results here

Let’s break down the top 10 vote results and discuss what new seasonal anime viewers can most look forward to.

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Isekai

Episodes: 11

Studio: Drive

Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness round up the misfit adventurer gang, returning for another season of wacky hijinks and unhinged fantasy quests. A lot of things have happened in the past two seasons and I expect to see Kazuma and Megumin’s relationship to develop more. Get ready to vote for them in the couple ship charts.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation S2 Part II

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Isekai

Episodes: 12

Studio: Studio Bind

Rudeus is back for another season and cured from his “limp sausage” thanks to reuniting with Sylphiette. I have to catch up on the second season’s first cour, so I don’t have much to say here. I look forward to seeing more of Rudeus’s school days, which will have no big incidents whatsoever (hopefully).

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc

Genre: Action, Supernatural

Episodes: ?

Studio: ufotable

I have good news and bad news for you, Demon Slayer fans. The good news is that you’ll be getting another season of this popular, generational series that has made its presence known just about everywhere. The bad news is that you have to wait until May 12 after two compilation specials

I guess the silver lining for diehard fans and newcomers wanting to get into the series is that they can relive what previously happened through the recaps. It’s pretty obvious we’re witnessing a slow milking towards the finale, folks.

Episodes: 24

Studio: Eight Bit

Fresh off annihilating a Demon Lord and securing his place as a formidable force in the great Forest of Jura, Rimuru Tempest is back for another round of adventure. Besides battling monsters and settling a grudge match with Hinata, he also has to manage the daily operations of running a city of monsters. Good luck, Rimuru. We can’t wait to see what you can do.

Genre: Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

Episodes: 25

Studio: Passione

If you are an anime fan of a certain age, don’t read this sentence: it’s been 15 years since the Spice and Wolf anime series last aired in 2009. I’ve heard some great things about the older series, but never got around to watching it. From what I saw of the trailers, I like the subtle, updated look of the series and can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.

Genre: Action, Fantasy, Science Fiction

Episodes: 12

Studio: Production I.G

KAIJU No. 8 has to be one of the most heavily marketed anime titles I’ve seen this season (take notes Disney and HIDIVE). In addition to having both English and Japanese Twitter accounts, the series will also receive opening and ending themes from rock band One Republic and British singer Yungblud. That’s some serious star power to begin and end with every new episode.

Despite skepticism about its initial character designs, the fandom seems to be excited for the upcoming adaptation. Only time will tell how well the series will resonate with the overall community.

Whisper Me a Love Song

Genre: Romance, Girls’ Love

Episodes: 12

Studio: Yokohama Animation Lab, CLOUD HEARTS

Our resident yuri expert on the Anime Trending staff doesn’t have high hopes for this adaptation, but I’m a little more optimistic after watching the anime’s PV trailer. I think I have a soft spot for love stories that involve a loner musician finding love in unexpected places. I wish Yori the best in finding happiness with Himari over the course of the series.

My Hero Academia S7

Genre: Action, Adventure, Superhero

Episodes: ?

Studio: Bones

Joining Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Training Arc on an extended vacation until May is the seventh season of My Hero Academia. Manga readers should be excited to see this season play out as the source material and anime adaptation head towards the finale. It’ll be interesting to see how far the series goes, as we have yet another film slated to premiere this summer, and it’s a midquel at that.

A Condition Called Love

Genre: Romance, Slice of Life

Episodes: 12

If you have or are experiencing a condition called love, please consult your doctor on your next steps to ensure you’re properly taken care of.

But seriously though, this is such a cute series that’s off to a great start. If you’re experiencing any shojo withdrawal symptoms from A Sign of Affection ending, A Condition Called Love is more than a suitable replacement to get your romance anime fix. We’re gradually starting to see more shoujo anime adaptations come out in recent seasons, and I hope this trend continues.

Date A Live V

Genre: Action, Harem, Romance

Episodes: 12

Date a Live may be on its fifth and final season, and what a run it has been since it first debuted in 2013. The anime series has gone through three animation studios (two of which are inactive now) as it heads towards its finale. I think just the sheer popularity of the female characters, led by Kurumi, has managed to keep this series going strong until the end. I can’t wait to see how the story ends (unless Kadokawa wants to milk out one more season or Kurumi spinoff).
