Two new key visuals have been released for the upcoming Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc TV anime series, which will begin airing in Japan sometime in July 2024.

The two visuals highlight the Justice and the Demon team of fighters featured in the series.

Akira Sato (Aoashi) is directing the new anime series, with Makoto Fukami (Tengoku-Daimakyo) as series screenwriter, Hirotaka Marufuji (Lupin the 3rd Part 6) as character designer, and Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto Shippuden co-composer) as music composer. Production I.G is handling the animation production.

Voice actor Mamoru Miyano is voicing the titular character for Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc, with the original Kinnikuman Akira Kamiya voicing Kinniku Mayumi (Kinnikuman’s father) and Prince Kamehame (Kinnikuman’s master).

The latest entry in the Kinnikuman series commemorates the original Kinnikuman anime’s 40th anniversary. The first TV anime series from Toei Animation aired from April 3, 1983 to October 1, 1986 for a total of 137 episodes. The series also inspired a 1984 special episode and the 1991 Kinnikuman: Kinnikusei Oui Soudatsu-hen series, which has 46 episodes.

In 2002, another Kinnikuman anime series was licensed by 4Kids Entertainment and aired on the Fox Box programming block under the title Ultimate Muscle: The Kinnikuman Legacy. The first season aired for a total of 51 episodes in 2002. The second season contained 26 episodes and aired from 2003 to 2004. Discotek Media licensed both seasons and released the full 77-episode series on Blu-ray in 2023.

The original Kinnikuman manga series was created by the creative duo Yudetamago and debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on May 26, 1979 until May 4, 1987. The manga returned in 2011 for a new continuation and is currently serialized on Shupure NEWS. A total of 83 tankobon volumes have been released under the Jump Comics label as of September 2023. An 84th volume is set for release on March 29, 2024.

Kinnikuman follows the clumsy titular character, whose real name is Suguru Kinniku. He learns that he is the missing prince of the planet Kinniku — a distant planet known for creating the greatest superheroes in the universe. To prove his worthiness of the planet’s throne, he enters several wrestling tournaments and fights off many evil supermen known as battle evil Choujins.
