The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom movie has gotten a collaboration poster with Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune adaptation, in which Kira Yamato and Lacus Clyne assume the poses of Paul Atreides and Chani from one of Dune: Part Two‘s character posters.

The Seed Freedom and Dune: Part Two posters are also part of an X (formerly Twitter) giveaway (presumably for Japanese residents only) that ends on March 28 at 11:59 PM JST.

Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Freedom premiered in Japan on January 26, with 4DX, MX4D, and Dolby Cinema screenings starting on February 9. The movie, a sequel to 2002-2003’s Mobile Suit Gundam Seed and 2004-2005’s Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny TV series, is the highest-grossing Gundam film and has made over 3.88 billion yen (~US$26.25 million) as of March 11.

The Japan Society describes the plot as:

In C.E.75, the fighting still continues. There is aggression by radical Anti-Coordinator group Blue Cosmos. In order to calm the situation, a global peace monitoring agency called COMPASS is established with Lacus Clyne as its leader. As members of COMPASS, Kira Yamato and his comrades intervene in regional battles across the world. Now, a newly established nation called Foundation proposes a joint operation against a Blue Cosmos stronghold…

Dune: Part Two is the continuation to 2021’s Dune: Part One and concludes Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert‘s famous 1965 science fiction novel Dune, which previously inspired a 1984 movie from David Lynch and a miniseries that began in 2000. It was originally a November 2023 title, but the SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood caused its release date to be pushed to mid-March. It was later brought up to March 1.

Dune: Part Two‘s official website describes the plot as:

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
