Astro Note Releases Its Shingo Yamashita-directed Opening Animation

Sci-fi rom-com original anime Astro Note begins airing this April, but its opening animation sequence, featuring the 80s/90s-styled “Hohoemi Note” by Ai Furihata, can now be viewed on YouTube in advance of the show’s premiere.

The appealing opening sequence — which is bookended by revolving displays of cute dance moves from the Astro Note cast and filled with attractive character drawings — is storyboarded and directed by Shingo Yamashita (Chainsaw Man opening, Ranking of Kings second opening, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 openings), who also handled compositing and editing duties. The show’s character designer and chief animation director Maho Aoki (The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon’s Judgement sub-animation character designer) served as animation director.

Astro Note will be streamed on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The synopsis for the show, which got a main trailer earlier this month, reads as:

Takumi, a gifted chef, was just let go from his job. He lands a gig at an old boarding house called Astro-sou, but hesitates to accept after learning he must also live there full-time. That is until he meets the beautiful and charming caretaker, Mira, and he’s sold. The two begin to work together and their connection deepens. But Mira has a secret: she isn’t from this world!
