Dorohedoro Anime Sequel Announced

The 2020 Dorohedoro anime adaptation is getting a continuation. The sequel will be exclusive to streaming services — the original was broadcast on some channels in Japan in addition to being streamed on Netflix.

Dorohedoro is based on the violent fantasy manga by Q Hayashida, which was serialized from 2000 to 2018. The Shogakukan title has been collected into 23 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes it as:

In a city so dismal it’s known only as “the Hole,” a clan of Sorcerers have been plucking people off the streets to use as guinea pigs for atrocious “experiments” in the black arts. In a dark alley, Nikaido found Caiman, a man with a reptile head and a bad case of amnesia. To undo the spell, they’re hunting and killing the Sorcerers in the Hole, hoping that eventually they’ll kill the right one. But when En, the head Sorcerer, gets word of a lizard-man slaughtering his people, he sends a crew of “cleaners” into the Hole, igniting a war between two worlds.

The first season of the anime was directed by Attack on Titan Final Season‘s Yuuichirou Hayashi. Other staff include Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan Final Season) as series composer, Tomohiro Kishi (Attack on Titan Final Season) as the main character designer, and Yuki Nomoto as 3DCG director. MAPPA is the animation production company.

Wataru Takagi voiced protagonist Caimon while Rei Kondou voiced main heroine Nikaido. Other cast members included Kenyuu Horiuchi as En, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shin, and Yuu Hayashi as Noi.
