LiSA has been announced as the opening song artist for the upcoming new The Irregular at Magic High School anime series that is premiering sometime in 2024. The singer previously performed the 2014 first season’s first opening, “Rising Hope.”

Another info drop for the show will be made on January 4 at 8 PM JST.

The Irregular at Magic High School started as a web novel by Tsutomu Satou, with publication on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website beginning in 2008. The first volume of the light novel series, which features illustrations from Kana Ishida, began publication under the Dengeki Bunko label in March 2011 and ended with 32 volumes in September 2020. A sequel series began in October 2020.

Yen Press describes the first volume as:

The year is 2095. Magic has been tamed as another form of technology, and the practice of magic is now a rigorous discipline. Brother and sister Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba are just about to start their first year at the renowned First Magic High School of Japan. But the school’s ironclad rules mean that the brilliant Miyuki enters the prestigious Course 1, while her older brother, Tatsuya, is relegated to Course 2–and that’s just the beginning of their troubles!

The Madhouse-produced first season was followed up by the Eight Bit-produced anime movie The Irregular at Magic High School The MovieThe Girl Who Calls the Stars in 2017. Eight Bit also produced 2020’s The Irregular at Magic High SchoolVisitor’s Arc and 2021’s The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc. The new installment was announced in December 2021.

The light novels have also inspired spin-offs and manga adaptations of its arcs. The Honor Student at Magic High School spin-off received a CONNECT-produced adaptation that premiered in 2021.
