The main trailer for next April’s Kaiju No. 8 anime adaptation has been released. It provides new footage to feast on and previews Fairouz Ai and Kengo Kawanishi as the Defense Force members Kikoru Shinomiya and Soshiro Hoshina, respectively.
In addition, the trailer reveals that the anime be streamed worldwide simultaneously on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
A manga spin-off drawn by Kentarou Hidano, titled Kaiju No. 8: Side B, was also announced. It will begin serialization on January 5. The main manga series’ Naoya Matsumoto and the Kaiju No. 8: Micchaku! Dai-san Butai light novel’s Keiji Andou are handling the writing.
The Shueisha-published Kaiju No. 8 manga started serialization on Shonen Jump+ in 2020 and has 11 tankoubon volumes as of November 2023. VIZ Media describes the manga as:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defense Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defense Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defense Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
Crunchyroll will stream the anime.
