Crunchyroll’s Meiji Gekken: 1874 Premieres in Japan on Jan 14, Trailer Released

BS Shochiku Tokyu has released a trailer and visual for original anime Meiji Gekken – 1874 –, with the former also revealing a January 14 Japanese premiere date.

Meiji Gekken – 1874 – takes place seven years after the restoration of Imperial rule in Japan. The two main characters are Shizuma (Yuuichi Nakamura), a former Aizu warrior who ends up pursuing a conspiracy to overthrow the government, and Kyoshiro (Satoshi Mikami), a swordsman who becomes involved with the Moriya gang and steadily strengthens his position there.

Jin Tamamura (The Girl in Twilight) is directing the anime at Tsumugi Akita Animation with Naoki Tozuka (T.P. Sakura: Time Paladin Sakura) as series composer, Shigeru Nishigori (Shadowverse Flame and Kingdom Season 3 to 4 in-between animation checker) and Masayori Komine (Angolmois) as character designers, and Shuuji Katayama (Overlord) as music composer. Crunchyroll is involved in the show’s production.

The other cast members include Tomoyo Kurosawa, Lynn, Kazuhiro Yamaji, and Katsuhisa Houki.
