Seven Seas Entertainment has announced the launch of an audiobook series for the Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA light novel series through its Siren audiobooks imprint

The audiobook will be narrated by voice actress Tiffany Grant, who voiced Asuka Langley Soryu in ADV and Funimation’s English dub for the series and trilogy films. It is the first English audiobook adaptation of the franchise’s official light novels, which explore an alternate ending to the original anime series.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA is written and illustrated by Ikuto Yamashita, with Khara credited with the original concept and Yasuo Kashihara as editor. Yamashita was originally credited as the illustrator, before taking over writing duties from Takuma Kageyama in 2009.

Kadokawa Shoten published the series from January 2008 to January 2013 for a total of five volumes and serialized it in Dengeki Hobby magazine. A full print volume release, split into five books, occurred in 2017 as part of the series’ 10th anniversary.

Seven Seas Entertainment describes the synopsis of Neon Genesis Evangelion: ANIMA as:

What if reluctant hero Ikari Shinji had saved the world? Now, at seventeen years old, he is the de facto leader of the EVA team. Under the leadership of Commander Katsuragi Misato, the Evangelion suits have been updated with advanced designs and abilities in preparation for the possible return of the monstrous Angels. Four copies of Ayanami Rei are tasked with operating a global anti-Angel search-and-destroy program. But when one of these clones goes rogue, only Shinji can stop her.

The first audiobook volume will be released in English on December 14, 2023. Pre-orders are now available at sevenseasaudiobooks.com
