Blue Lock: Episode Nagi Reveals April 19 Premiere, New Trailer and Visual

The Blue Lock -Episode Nagi- anime movie, an adaptation of the Blue Lock spin-off manga of the same name, will begin screening in Japan on April 19, 2024. A new trailer and promotional visual were released to accompany the premiere date reveal.

Blue Lock -Episode Nagi- was announced in May together with a second season of the 24-episode Blue Lock soccer anime series, which premiered last October. The Kodansha-published manga, which features the viewpoint of the character Seishiro Nagi, began serialization in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2022.

The main Blue Lock manga began in 2018 and has 26 tankoubon volumes as of September 2023. The title is serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and published under the Kodansha Comics label. Both Blue Lock and -Episode Nagi- are written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro, with the respective artists being Yuusuke Nomura and Kouta Sannomiya.

Kodansha USA describes Blue Lock‘s plot as:

After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
